Finca La Esperanza is a family-owned and operated organic farm located several miles outside of San José, Costa Rica. We believe strongly that the future of sustainable farming lies within future generations and we are passionate about reaching out to students of all ages. Finca La Esperanza was created by one man’s passion for living in alignment with the environment and we now feel as if it is our duty to stimulate and cultivate similar interests across students, both local and international.
Following a chemical accident that occurred on a conventional farm, Anselmo Rodríguez Umaña began finca La Esperanza in the early 1990’s. The farm was created with the simple notion that farmers could grow high-quality produce that doesn’t harm the health of the environment or humanity. Working alongside Don Anselmo is his wife, Zodelba Tenoria Balboza and their daughter, Patricia.
